Can he fix it? Yes he can!

Anthony Ramos will star in an animated Bob the Builder feature from Mattel and Jennifer Lopez‘s Nuyorican Productions.

The synopsis for the film reads: “When Roberto “Bob” travels to the enchanting island of Puerto Rico for a major construction job, he takes on issues affecting the island and digs deeper into what it means to build. Bob’s journey will celebrate the vibrant and colorful textures of the Caribbean Latin nations and their people.” Felipe Vargas is penning the screenplay.

Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico from animation shingle ShadowMachine (Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, BoJack Horseman) will produce, alongside Lopez, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina for Nuyorican. Ramos will also produce.

Bob the Builder will be overseen by Kevin McKeon, Ivan Sanchez and Arturo Thur De Koós for Mattel, and Natalie Haack Flores for Nuyorican.

Bob the Builder is the latest feature project from Mattel, which launched its slate last year with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie that has earned over $1.4 billion at the box office and was recently nominated for best picture at the 2024 Oscars. Other Mattel IP currently in development includes Hot Wheels, set up at Warner Bros, and American Girl, which will be penned by Lindsey Beer for Paramount.

Ramos, who is represented by CAA, Door24 and Paul Hastings, was last in theaters with the Transformers film, Rise of the Beasts, and the Sony feature Dumb Money. Upcoming credits include the Universal film Twisters and the Disney series Ironheart.

Lopez is represented by CAA. Felipe Vargas is represented by CAA, Magnolia Entertainment and Gang, Tyre, Ramer, Brown & Passman.
