Development

Cut the scene short by leaving the end hanging. I guarantee the audience will stick around to find out what happens.

At the end of the meal, Gittes tells Evelyn that her husband was murdered because of his knowledge that the city water was being stolen.

Wrap – Mr. and Mrs. Jones

The period immediately after the shooting ends, when all the cameras are turned off. During this stage of Mr. and Mrs. Jones, everything gets disassembled and the set is cleared of the cast and crew. All equipment and props must be returned in a functioning order, to the suppliers and there must be an inventory list. (Note that there’s no real reason that Ida Sessions would know anything about the Albacore Club, but this is what Hitchcock called a “ham sandwich”: a plot hole that you only think about after the movie, when you’re in your robe and standing in your kitchen about to bite into a ham sandwich….)
